Wiring

Power Input

The Relay Board must be powered via 12V.

Typically this power is supplied by one of the outputs on the Edge Controller.

This 12v power will need to be terminated into the 2.1 mm DC jack. The centre pin is positive.

In the below pictures you can see the power wires coming in at the bottom of the picture. These are terminated into WAGO DIN rail terminal blocks.

On / Off Control

We will typically configure one of the outputs on the Edge Controller to be 'Mast Power'. This allows you to toggle power on and off to the whole relay board.

Parallel outputs

If you are going to draw more than a total of around 6 Amps from all the accessories at the top (for example if you had some large floodlights to control) then you will need to join together multiple outputs on the Edge Controller to spread the load.

The maximum total current from the Edge Controller is 10A so there is no point paralleling more than 2 outputs.

Relay Outputs

There are 4 relays on the board that can either be wired normally open (NO) or normally closed. We recommend wiring the cameras in normally closed as a fail safe if the board were to fail and other accessories such as floodlights and strobe lights normally open.

Continuous power is connected to input C, please see below an example of how this can be wired up.

The 4 red wires in the first image are constantly connected to power, they connect to the C connector on the relay board. See below an example of how you can connect this up to allow you wire up multiple cameras from a single relay. The power for number 3 are all joined together giving you 4 connection terminals.

GPIO

The ETH484-B outputs will sink current (up to 100mA) when active.

They can also be configured as inputs. Anything that pulls the ping to ground will read as high.

Analogue Inputs

The relay board has 4 analogue inputs capable of 0-5V. These could be used for a light sensor.

Please contact Giraffe support before using these pins because software modifications may be required.

Configuration

There is no configuration required for the relay board - the Edge Controller will automatically discover it on the local network and configure it as required.

The correct defintion for your Edge Controller must be first setup by Giraffe to suppor the Relay Board.
