Low Power Controller

The Edge Controller V2 is the first device that we have introduced with a Low Power Controller (LPC).

The LPC is a ultra low power consumption co-processor that sits alongside the main processor of the Edge Controller. It's functionality is as follows

On / Off Control

The LPC is responsible for switching on and off the main processor. When the momentary power switch is pressed, the LPC checks the supply voltage is suitable for switching on and if so, boots up the Edge Controller. If the voltage is not suitable, it flashes an error code to give the user feedback.

When the power button is long pressed (for more than 3 seconds), the LPC initiates a shutdown of the Edge Controller. There is a 10 second delay before the shutdown happens to give the Edge Controller time to stop writing to the hard drive and communicate it's intention to shutdown to Giraffe Cloud. During this shutdown process the user is informed thanks to a flashing light.
