How the router integration works

The Edge Controller always assumes that the router is the default gateway on the network. If the router is not the default gateway, the integration will not work.

If the system has a router linked to it, the routers MAC address, serial number and login credentials are synced to the Edge Controller from Giraffe Cloud. The MAC address and serial number are synced from Peplink InControl2 or Teltonika RMS and cannot be entered manually.

The Edge Controller will then attempt to connect to the routers local API using the credentials provided.

Error states

If there are problems connecting to the router, we will open either a router missing or router missmatch error state.

• if it cannot connect, a router missing error state will be raised

• if it connects but the wrong router is discovered (both the MAC address and the serial number must match) we report a router missmatch error state

If we are initially able to connect to the router but then subsequently lose the ability, after 5 minutes a router missing error state will be opened.

If a Peplink router is attached to a system and a Teltonika network is actually installed in real life (or vice versa), we will report router missing rather than router missmatch.

If the username or password is incorrect, a router missing error will be reported.
