Variants
The Edge Controller V2 comes in a couple of different variants.
Thr basic functionality is the same such as the input and output connectors, NVR / AI functionality etc. The difference mainly relate to the wiring.
We recommend the Edge V2 Core for most retrofit opportunities because it is far easier to “field build” the wiring loom. It is also suitable for serial production where each system you build tends to have a degree of customisation.
The OEM version is most suited for automotive style mass production where you build hundreds of identical units with a preformed wiring harness. The Microfit connectors are not suited to field termination and need to be done on a machine.
The OEM version also requires more mounting consideration due to it’s off PCB 18650 cell that requires securing.
Edge V2 Core
Phoenix Contact style pluggable terminal blocks for easy wiring
Nominal 12V DC power input with optional battery passthrough and current monitoring
Line level audio output (no built in amplifier)
18650 backup cell mounted on PCB
Passively cooled heat sink case designed for DIN rail mounting.
Edge V2 OEM
Molex Microfit high density loom connectors
Wide range 9V-35V DC input with onboard high efficiency 15A buck boost converter
Built in battery LiFePO4 charger for backup battery
15W audio amplifier (with jumpers for line level output)
18650 backup cell connected via JST connector to reduce board size
WS2812 / SK6812 addressable LED driver output
Optional heat sink, various mounting options
PCB Customisation
For mass production, we are able to produce a customised version of the Edge Controller for your specific application.
Customisations may include
operating at 24V nominal voltage rather than 12V (ie. supporting 24V power outputs).
increasing or decreasing the number of inputs, outputs, USB, serial or CAN ports
building in an ethernet switch IC or POE functionality
different form factors
modifying the type of connectors used
Pricing would typically start at around £3,000 GBP for simple modifications (different connectors, custom case) to £10,000+ for more complex modifications that require rerouting the PCB.
